The name of Hon’ble Mr. Justice (R) Shahnawaz Tariq stands with the Top-Notch of the judiciary. Throughout his splendid career as a judge, he successfully raised the values of the justice at the Bench and consistently demonstrated excellence through his land mark judgments and dispensation of justice. He is well-known and highly regarded in the legal fraternity not only for responsiveness, unflinching steadfastness towards his profession but also for his pleasant, kind and calm demeanor. Mr. Tariq, during the 30 years of his judicial career, performed his dutyas a ‘Man on Mission’ and beside having served as judge of the High Court of Sindh he also rendered his services at a higher level of Bureaucracy in the Provincial Home Department Sindh for considerable time period.
On 7th April 2017 MR Shahnawaz Tariq, was entrusted with an important assignment to work four years as Provincial Ombudsman for Protection against Harassment of women at workplace, Sindh sexual Harassment is not only a social evil but it is also a crime for which the special enactment No.Iv of 2010, titled” The protection against Harassment of women at the workplace Act 2010 passed in March, 2010 by the senate of Pakistan. Sexual Harassment at work place is quite difficult to handle when no grievance procedure at the enterprise related to harassment has visibly been established and understand both by the employers and when victims are hesitant to discuss their case being afraid of losing their job. However, despite this gigantic & difficult task, Mr. Shahnawaz Tariq though his unwavering dedication, perseverance , high level of commitment and strong leadership, has made it possible during the last one year to prevent sexual harassment at the workplace and taken is as his prime objective to create a safe & congenial working environment for women, which is free from harassment, abuse & intimidation with a view toward fulfillment of their to work with dignity.
